more suspension

Seems like ages since my last blog update - I'm still waiting for the front hubs and shocks I ordered from Westfield back in May / June which is a little frustrating!

Anyhow progress has been made on the rear diff, drive-shafts and hubs as well as the front uprights, handbrake and steering.

Front Suspension

Started the assembly of the front suspension. I'd had the wishbone bushes pressed in at the factory to it was fairly quick to fit the ball joints before attaching to the chassis.

starting to look a bit more car like.

I then un-packed the 'new old-stock' diff that I brought from a hearse servicing company on ebay - it was originally destined for a Scorpio-Ultima hearse!

As the diff is the 7-1/2" size I had to remove the bottom left hand corner of the case to clear the chassis.

Stoneleigh 2014

Next tranche of parts ordered or brought at Stoneleigh including:

  • Steering rack, mounts and track-rod ends
  • Lower steering coloum
  • Protec shocks
  • Top and bottom ball joints
  • Front & rear High-Spec callipers
  • Front uprights and hubs
  • Lobo joints and stubs
  • Hand-brake lever

once the parts arrive it's on with the show!

Got some good deals and meet a few people in the WSCC.

Wiring

First job was to layout the loom and label the connections.

Including the two fuse carriers and which have to be disconnected to pass through the bulk-head

Pipes and 'final' panels

Completed the two floor panels, then ran the fuel and brake lines from front to back. Where the line clips are attached to the chassis rails I used rivets and where they attached to the floors I used M5 dome head screws with nyloc nuts.

For the fuel lines I've used plastic covered 8mm copper LPG high pressure pipe (same as used for dual fuel cars).

Something different

Trimmed and drilled the floor panels but as I don't have enough rivets to complete the two floor panels while I'm waiting for Mr Postman I thought I'd fit the pedals.

Starting with the clutch & clutch cable

Master Cylinder

Brake pedal

Throttle pedal

 Throttle cable

and finally the three-way union complete with brake switch
